The escalating frequency and sophistication of cyberattacks have placed unprecedented pressure on organizations to detect, contain, and remediate security incidents faster than ever before. Traditional incident response mechanisms, which rely heavily on manual analysis and signature-based detection tools, are increasingly inadequate against modern threats such as polymorphic malware, zero-day exploits, and advanced persistent threats (APTs). This paper examines how artificial intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing cybersecurity incident response by introducing automation, predictive analytics, and adaptive learning into every phase of the response lifecycle. It explores the limitations of conventional approaches, the core AI technologies driving this transformation—including machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, and behavioral analytics—and their practical applications in threat detection, triage, containment, and post-incident learning. The paper further discusses the challenges accompanying AI adoption, such as adversarial attacks, false positives, data privacy concerns, and the shortage of skilled professionals. Ultimately, it argues that AI is not merely an enhancement to existing incident response frameworks but a fundamental paradigm shift that enables organizations to move from reactive firefighting toward proactive, intelligent, and resilient cyber defense.
