The increasing digitization of genomic information and the widespread adoption of genetic databases in healthcare, biotechnology, and research institutions have introduced significant cybersecurity and privacy challenges. Genetic data represents one of the most sensitive forms of personal information due to its permanent, identifiable, and highly confidential nature, making it a critical target for cyber-attacks and unauthorized access. This study explores the role of cyber forensics in investigating genetic data breaches, focusing on forensic methodologies, real-world case studies, and advanced security strategies for protecting genomic information. The paper examines the evolving threat landscape surrounding genetic data systems, including ransom ware attacks, insider threats, unauthorized data sharing, cloud security vulnerabilities, and identity-related cybercrimes involving genomic datasets. Furthermore, the research investigates digital forensic techniques used in breach analysis, evidence collection, attack attribution, anomaly detection, and incident response within genetic information infrastructures. The study also analyzes the legal, ethical, and regulatory implications associated with genetic data breaches, emphasizing the importance of privacy preservation, chain-of-custody integrity, compliance with healthcare regulations, and secure forensic investigation practices. In addition, emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence-driven forensic analytics, blockchain-based genomic security, privacy-preserving computation, and zero-trust security architectures are explored as future directions for strengthening genetic data protection frameworks.
