Peer Review Policy

The Journal of Dental Research and Innovation (JDRI) is committed to ensuring the publication of high-quality, original, and scientifically sound research through a fair, transparent, and rigorous double-blind peer-review process. The identities of both authors and reviewers remain confidential throughout the review process to promote impartiality and minimize bias.

Initial Editorial Assessment

Upon submission, each manuscript undergoes an initial screening by the Editorial Office to determine whether it:

  • Falls within the scope of the journal.
  • Complies with the journal's submission guidelines.
  • Meets basic standards of scientific quality and ethical conduct.
  • Is sufficiently original and free from significant plagiarism.

Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements may be returned to the authors for revision or rejected without external review.

Double-Blind Peer Review

Manuscripts that pass the initial editorial assessment are assigned to at least two independent expert reviewers with relevant expertise in the subject area. Under the double-blind review model, reviewers do not know the identities of the authors, and authors do not know the identities of the reviewers.

Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on:

  • Originality and novelty
  • Scientific merit and methodological rigor
  • Clinical or academic significance
  • Accuracy of data analysis and interpretation
  • Quality of writing and presentation
  • Ethical compliance
  • Relevance to the journal's scope

Editorial Decision

Based on the reviewers' comments and recommendations, the Editor-in-Chief or the assigned Handling Editor will make one of the following decisions:

  • Accept without revisions
  • Accept with minor revisions
  • Request major revisions
  • Reject the manuscript

The editorial decision is based solely on the scientific quality and relevance of the manuscript and is independent of the authors' nationality, institutional affiliation, gender, ethnicity, or personal beliefs.

Revision Process

Authors receiving revision requests should submit a revised manuscript along with a detailed response to reviewers' comments within the specified deadline. Revised manuscripts may be returned to the original reviewers for further evaluation when necessary.

Reviewer Responsibilities

Reviewers are expected to:

  • Maintain confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts.
  • Provide objective, constructive, and timely reviews.
  • Declare any conflicts of interest before accepting a review invitation.
  • Evaluate manuscripts solely on scientific merit.
  • Avoid using unpublished information for personal or professional advantage.

Author Responsibilities

Authors are responsible for:

  • Submitting original and ethically conducted research.
  • Responding thoroughly to reviewer comments.
  • Disclosing conflicts of interest and funding sources.
  • Following the journal's ethical and submission guidelines.

Peer Review Timeline

The journal aims to provide an efficient review process while maintaining high editorial standards:

  • Initial Editorial Screening: 3–7 days
  • Peer Review: Approximately 2–6 weeks
  • Final Editorial Decision: Within 1 week after receipt of reviewers' reports
  • Online Publication: Typically within 7–14 days after acceptance and completion of production requirements

Actual timelines may vary depending on reviewer availability and the complexity of the manuscript.

Confidentiality and Integrity

All manuscripts and reviewer reports are treated as confidential documents. Information obtained during the peer-review process will not be disclosed or used for personal advantage. The journal is committed to maintaining the integrity, fairness, and transparency of the editorial process.
