Correction Policy

The Journal of Modern Medical Research (JMMR) is committed to maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of the scholarly record. This policy outlines how corrections are handled to ensure transparency and trust in published content.

Purpose of the Correction Policy

The purpose of this policy is to:

  • Ensure that readers have access to corrected and reliable information.

  • Preserve the integrity of academic publishing.

Types of Post-Publication Updates

The journal may issue the following types of corrections depending on the nature and severity of the error:

1. Erratum

An erratum is issued when an error is introduced by the journal during the publication process, such as formatting mistakes, author name spelling errors, or production-related issues.

2. Corrigendum

A corrigendum is issued when authors identify and report an error in their published work that affects accuracy but does not invalidate the main findings or conclusions.

3. Retraction

A retraction is issued when a published article is found to contain serious flaws or ethical violations, such as:

  • Data fabrication or falsification

  • Plagiarism

  • Unethical research practices

  • Major errors invalidating the results or conclusions

Retractions are clearly marked and remain permanently linked to the original article.

4. Expression of Concern

An expression of concern may be published when serious doubts arise about the integrity of an article, and an investigation is ongoing but not yet concluded.

Correction Process

When an error is identified, the journal follows these steps:

  1. Receipt of notification from authors, readers, or editors.

  2. Preliminary assessment by the editorial team.

  3. Consultation with authors and, if necessary, peer reviewers.

  4. Decision on the appropriate correction type.

  5. Publication of a formal correction notice linked to the original article.

  6. Indexing of correction notice in journal records and databases where applicable.

Author Responsibilities

Authors are responsible for:

  • Promptly notifying the journal of any errors discovered in their published work.

  • Cooperating fully during investigations of reported issues.

  • Providing accurate and complete information for corrections or clarifications.

Editorial Responsibilities

The editorial team is responsible for:

  • Evaluating reported errors fairly and promptly.

  • Ensuring corrections are clearly documented and publicly accessible.

  • Maintaining transparency in all post-publication updates.

  • Safeguarding the integrity of the scholarly record.

Visibility of Corrections

All corrections issued by the Journal of Modern Medical Research will:

  • Be published as separate, citable documents.

  • Be linked directly to the original article.

  • Clearly indicate the nature of the correction.

  • Remain permanently accessible.

The original article may be updated, but a clear record of the correction will always be maintained.
