Correction Policy
The Journal of Dental Research and Innovation (JDRI) is committed to maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of the scholarly record. The journal recognizes that errors may occasionally occur in published articles and provides a transparent process for correcting the literature when necessary.
Minor Corrections
Minor errors that do not affect the scientific validity, interpretation, or conclusions of an article—such as typographical mistakes, formatting issues, or minor grammatical errors—may be corrected by the editorial office without issuing a formal correction notice. These changes are made solely to improve the clarity and readability of the published work.
Major Corrections
If a published article contains significant errors that affect the accuracy of the data, results, interpretations, author information, affiliations, figures, tables, or references, the journal will publish a formal Correction (Erratum or Corrigendum) linked to the original article.
Examples of major corrections include:
- Errors in author names or institutional affiliations
- Incorrect figures, tables, or supplementary materials
- Errors in data presentation or statistical analysis
- Important inaccuracies in the text that do not invalidate the overall findings
- Incorrect funding or acknowledgment information
Erratum
An Erratum is issued when the error originates from the journal during the editorial or production process. The journal will promptly correct the error and publish an official notice linked to the original article.
Corrigendum
A Corrigendum is published when the authors identify an error in their published article. Authors should notify the Editorial Office as soon as possible, providing a clear explanation of the error and the proposed correction.
Retractions
If a published article is found to contain unreliable findings due to major errors, research misconduct, plagiarism, duplicate publication, fabricated or falsified data, or other serious ethical concerns, the journal may retract the article in accordance with internationally accepted publishing ethics. A retraction notice will clearly explain the reason for the retraction and will remain permanently linked to the original article.
Expressions of Concern
When a serious concern is raised about a published article but sufficient evidence is not yet available to determine the appropriate course of action, the Editor-in-Chief may publish an Expression of Concern while an investigation is underway.
Correction Requests
Authors, readers, reviewers, or editors who identify an error in a published article are encouraged to contact the Editorial Office promptly. All correction requests are carefully evaluated by the editorial team, and additional information may be requested before a decision is made.
Transparency and Record Integrity
All approved corrections will be published promptly, clearly identified, and permanently linked to the original article. The journal is committed to preserving the integrity of the scholarly record while ensuring transparency and accountability in scientific publishing.
